Selecting springs
In appreciation of the growing demand
for the highest standards as fas as the
precision and durability of our springs
are concerned, the most important
dimensions of all springs are given with
tolerances.
The selection of springs should pro-
ceed in consideration of the following
factors:
1. The temperature at which the spring
will operate.
A. Springs manufactured from spring
steel wire according to EN 10270-1
SH or DH may only be used in
environments with temperatures
between 0°C and 80°C.
B. Springs made from material 1.4310
(EN 10270-3) can be employed
between -30°C and 80°C.
For temperatures beyond these
boundaries a different material must be
selected. Please contact our customer
services department.

2. Whether the springs is to be em-
ployed in an agressive environment.
A. Springs manufactured from spring
steel wire according to EN 10270-1
-SH or -DH are not suitable for use
in acidic or alkalis environments.
B. The use of material 1.4310 in acidic
conditions is limited, and it cannot be
used at all in environments which
contain chlorine.
If uncertainty exists about the em-
ployment of a spring in an agressive
environment, please do not hasitate to
contact our customer services depart-
ment.
3. Whether the springs is to be em-
ployed statically or dynamically.
The information about our standrad
springs incorporates data for the
static employment of the springs.
For dynamic use please contact our
sales department.
The operation of the spring can be
determined as follows:
A. The spring is engaged in statice
operation when it is working with a
permanent load.
B. The spring is engaged in dynamic
operation when the occuring
expansion tension is greater than
10% of the maximum permitted
torsion regarding the length „Ln“.
The spring has to be shot peened for
dynamic use.
If uncertainty exists about the nature of
the load which a spring has to endure in
a particular application, i.e. whether it is
a static or dynamic load, please do not
hesitate to contact our customer
services department.
